The last place you look...

[migrated from myspace blog]

Of course
it's always the last place you look...for good reason.

"They" say the definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over while expecting a different result. If that's the case, I'm in trouble.

Let me back up. Most people who know me can attest to the fact that I'm a bit anal particular when it comes to optical media. Basically what it comes down to is that I treat my CDs and DVDs as if they'll have to last a lifetime, and the only way for that to happen is if they're handled carefully (seriously, you should never have to wipe fingerprints off the surface of a DVD because you shouldn't be touching it.) When I was a teenager I even used to put all my CDs in the case with the "top" up (I don't bother, anymore.) But it's still pretty rare for me to put a CD in the wrong case unless it's very temporary and I have a good reason.

So back to being crazy, I've been looking in the same cases over and over, hoping maybe I didn't really look there earlier, for a lost (not LOST) CD I got for Christmas. It's not in any DVD player, CD player, or computer in the house or in my car. And yes, it's definitely enough to drive a person mad.

Has anyone ever found something in the second-to-last place they looked? If so, why were they still looking after they found it? Who's mad, now?

Who are the Oceanic 6?

[migrated from myspace blog]

I don't know, and I don't want to know, but the reflection at the bottom of this picture is enough to give me goosebumps.

At the store

[migrated from myspace blog]

Two things caught my eye at the store today. First one was "bottled root beer floats". What? How lazy are we that we're going to buy vanilla ice cream flavored root beer?

Speaking of lazy, I don't think the candy industry is even trying anymore. They're just recycling. Whoppers Malted Milk Balls have been around a lot longer than I have, but they must be looking for a new angle, because they now have strawberry, and Reese's peanut butter flavors.

What does it say about my addiction that on eBay trying to stock up on a discontinued line of ChapStick (2 days 15 hours left)? No, I won't say what because I don't want anyone else bidding on it.

It's Jan. 10 and I've already misplaced a CD I got for Christmas. I have the case and the bonus DVD, just not the CD.

Couple Culture, force-fed

[migrated from myspace blog]

My thoughts from a previous post continue to be proven accurate. Why is it that a married person assumes that we single people all want to be married as well? I was asked today if I was opposed to being "set-up" on a date with the sister of someone's in-law who is moving to town. Talk about putting me in an awkward situation. I had to tell her that yes, I'm very much opposed to being set up. I guess it's better than being "fixed up." As far as I know, I'm not broken and in need of fixing.

Apparently we can now extend this mindset to the topic of children. As I was holding a 5-month-old I actually had a relative, this time, tell me, "Find yourself a big-ti***ed girl and you can have one of those of your own." Word for word. Thanks. Brilliant. Way to assume that you know what I want. Twice. In the same sentence. And get it wrong. Twice. Also, I'll take "crude" for $400, Alex.

Jane Austen opens Pride and Prejudice with a heaping helping of sarcasm, but she must have known the same people I do:
"It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune must be in want of a wife."

Unworthy Filmgoers

[migrated from myspace blog]

If I had the authority, I would have kicked out the two people sitting behind me in I Am Legend before the movie ever started. Not because they were talkative, which was annoying enough, but because they didn't deserve to be there. Their film ignorance was shown to be enormous during the Dark Knight trailer.

Guy 1: There's a new Batman movie? Didn't Jim Carrey play the Joker?

Guy 2: No, that was the Riddler.

Guy 1: Oh, who played the Joker?

Guy 2: I don't know.

It's bad enough to not even know there's a new Batman movie coming out, but to not remember who played the Joker in 1989?! Alright guys, I'll give you a clue, since you're clearly clueless.

Also, you're both banned from seeing any movie not involving

Jerry Bruckheimer or Michael Bay (Sick to my stomach over a remake of The Birds. Remember Gus van Sant's Psycho?! Apparently not.)

What?! (DVD Edition)

[migrated from myspace blog]

The packaging of multiple movies together at a low price is out of hand.
Fargo + Raising Arizona makes sense. Same directors.
This, however makes me want to slap the collective MGM marketing department.

I have to question if any of them have actually seen either of these movies. Honestly, what's the connection here? Money?

This one I found in Target. Apparently the newest trend in DVD packaging, promoting your movie in 2D!
